Paddleboarding looks peaceful from the shore — until it’s time to pick paddleboarding team names, and suddenly a calm lake morning turns into a group debate that lasts longer than the actual paddle.
Some groups want SUP team names for a racing crew, others need something for a casual lake day or a women’s paddleboarding club specifically.
This list covers every style — funny, punny, bold, ocean-inspired — plus categories built for racing, clubs, and pop culture fans specifically.
Pick the style that fits your crew and get started.

Paddleboarding or SUP? A Quick Word on the Difference
“Paddleboarding” and “SUP” get used interchangeably, but they’re not quite the same thing. Paddleboarding covers any board-and-paddle activity — standing, kneeling, or lying prone. SUP, short for stand-up paddleboarding, specifically means standing upright, which is what most people picture and what most races and clubs mean today when they say “paddleboarding.”
Almost every name on this list works for both. If you’re specifically racing or joining a competitive SUP club, the SUP Racing and Bold SUP categories lean into that upright, competitive style more directly. The International Surfing Association is the IOC-recognized governing body for SUP racing internationally, if your club ever wants to go that route.
